Kazakh President invites UAE PM to EXPO 2017 opening ceremony

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has met with Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Emir of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Kazinform has learnt from the president's press service.  During the negotiations, the sides discussed current state and further development of cooperation between Astana and Abu Dhabi. Utmost attention was paid to cooperation in commercial and economic, financial and investment spheres. The Head of State praised fast pace of development of the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) and Dubai. Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the importance of exchange of experience with the UAE in terms of creation an effective management of the center and establishing close ties between the DIFC and the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC). The Emir of Dubai, in turn, reiterated readiness for full and complete cooperation in that respect. The Kazakh President thanked Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for special contribution to the development and introduction of Islamiс financing. Additionally, the Head of State briefed the UAE Prime Minister on the final stages of preparations for the International specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 and plans to use the exhibition facilities as the AIFC headquarters in the future. In conclusion, President Nazarbayev invited Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to attend the opening ceremony of the EXPO 2017 in Astana.

Honorary consulate of Norway to be unveiled in Kazakhstan

Honorary consulate of the Kingdom of Norway is set to be unveiled in Kazakhstan this week, official spokesperson of the Central Communications Service Murat Zhumanbai said Monday. According to Zhumanbai, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko will participate in the unveiling ceremony of the honorary consulate of the Kingdom of Norway in Kazakhstan on March 30.

EU congratulates the world on Nowruz

The European External Action Service has tweeted its congratulations to the world on the upcoming Nowruz holiday, Kazinform correspondent reports. "Best wishes to all celebrating #Nowruz today! #nowruzmobarak," the post reads. Earlier foreign ambassadors posted in Kazakhstan, including U.S. Ambassador George Krol an UK Ambassador Dr Carolyn Browne, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also congratulated everyone on Nowruz holiday.

President Nazarbayev congratulates Kazakhstanis on Nauryz

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has congratulated all Kazakhstanis on the Nauryz holiday, Kazinform correspondent reports. "Dear Kazakhstanis! I would like to extend my congratulations to all compatriots on the important Nauryz holiday that doesn't distinguish people by nationality or religion. It is a nationwide holiday of our Motherland!" Nursultan Nazarbayev said, while speaking at the celebratory event in honor of Nauryz at the Saryarka cycle track in Astana.


The Head of State added that from year to year this great holiday remains the symbol of trust, friendship, brotherhood and stability in our country. "This year we will celebrate Nauryz in a different atmosphere. Kazakhstan has embarked on the path of serious changes. I proposed the program of the third modernization which involves political and economic reforms in the country. We've amended the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to improve public administration, make the country more stable, strengthen guarantees of our independence, unity and accord as well as overcome modern challenges. All these changes in Kazakhstan pursue the ultimate goal and that is stability and prosperity for all Kazakhstanis!" Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed.

Astana talks extended for one day due to opposition arrival

The third round of Syria reconciliation talks in Astana is being extended for one day amid Syrian armed opposition arrival, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's representative told Sputnik on Wednesday. The third round of Syria reconciliation talks in Astana is being extended for one day in the anticipation of arrival of Syrian armed opposition representatives to the negotiations, with the talks participants expected to discuss differentiation between terrorists and armed groups, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's Asia and Africa Department Director General Aidarbek Tumatov told Sputnik on Wednesday. The delegation of seven representatives of Northern and Southern front opposition is expected to arrive in Astana later in the day
